About Team IEB (Intestinal Epithelial Barrier in Autoimmune Diseases)
A Research Assistant/ lab technician position is available in our newly established research group “Intestinal Epithelial Barrier in Autoimmune Diseases” at the BioMed X Innovation Center in Heidelberg. The main objective of the group, headed by Dr. Martin Resnik-Docampo, is to understand the molecular mechanisms of the interactions between intestinal epithelial barrier and immune cells, in particular the interactions between dendritic cells and intestinal enterocytes. Studies will involve use of conventional and high-throughput metagenomics, generation of intestinal organoids from murine and human subjects, isolation of immune cells and germ-free murine models. Our final goal is to identify novel biomarkers and develop new therapeutic targets for intestinal barrier loss and autoimmune diseases that will improve patient outcomes.
We are looking for highly enthusiastic researchers to broaden our think-tank with their intellectual power and technical excellence. The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor/Master degree or equivalent in cell/molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry or related field. The position consists in: -Cell, tissue and organ isolation and intestinal organoid culture. -Order reagents, maintain lab inventory and prepare routinely used laboratory agents. -Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization. -Preparation of samples for immunohistochemistry, histology and microscopy. -Assist with performing experiment, depending on time constraints and the needs of the lab. This position is ideal for candidates interested in the expanding intestinal barrier field, and is a unique opportunity for interacting in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment and to be trained in a variety of experimental approaches.
- Experience in lab management
- Mouse work experience
- Up-to-date molecular and cell biological techniques
- Cell culture and isolation of specific cellular populations (with a preference for immune cells)
- Independent thinking
- Experienced to work in interdisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills in English and German
Additional preferred skills
- Isolation and culture intestinal organoids
- Microscopy experience
- RNAseq library preparation
Candidates are requested to submit
