About Team RNA Splicing in Cancer (RSC)

A Research Assistant position is available in the team of “RNA Splicing in Cancer (RSC)”, headed by Dr. Jan Mauer. Our Team is interested in identifying key molecular and cellular mechanisms for splicing abnormalities in cancer development, which could be exploited as potential targets for the treatment of multiple cancer subtypes. As part of the research project, novel therapeutic concepts are to be developed that explore the complex pathophysiology of tumor cells within human tissues, with a focus on oncogenic RNA splicing aberrations. The lab is employing high-throughput approaches combined with mechanistic cellular biology and in vitro cancer models.

The Position

We are looking for highly enthusiastic researchers to strengthen our team with their technical excellence. The ideal candidate should have a master’s or related degree in oncology and/or cell biology, and a strong background in cell culture systems and cell-based assays.

Required skills

  • Hands-on experience in establishing and maintaining cultured mammalian cells (transfection, transduction, viability and drug sensitivity assays)
  • Hands-on experience in basic molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, Cloning, PCR, qPCR, Western blotting)
  • Very good work organization skills
  • Independent thinking
  • Experienced to work in interdisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication skills in English

Additional preferred skills

  • Experience in CRISPR/Cas genome editing
  • Experience in high throughput screening
  • Data analysis in R
