Who we are looking for

An internship position is available in the team of “DNA Damage in Cancer” at BioMed X Innovation Center in Heidelberg. The main aim of the group is to understand the mechanisms of synthetic lethality in cancer. We offer paid internship of 4-6 months duration for a highly enthusiastic and independent student. During this period, you will:

  • actively contribute to the research focused on CRISPR-Cas9 based genetic screens
  • plan, execute, analyze and report the experiments independently
  • present and discuss your data
  • meet and interact with an international and multidisciplinary environment at BioMed X, as well as our mentors from University of Heidelberg and Merck

Required skills

  • Experience and high motivation to work with the mammalian cell culture
  • Experience in common molecular and cell biology tools
  • Good theoretical and preferentially practical knowledge of CRISPR-Cas9 system
  • Very good work organization skills and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills in English

What you will learn

  • Knocking out genes in mammalian cells using CRISPR-Cas9 system
  • Working with various DNA damaging agents
  • Performing CRISPR-Cas9 based genetic screens
