Call closed!

What we are looking for

A postdoctoral position is available in the team „Nanomaterial-Based Biosensors“ at the BioMed X Innovation Center in Heidelberg. The main goal of our research is to develop a nanoelectronics sensing platform for point-of-care disease diagnostics. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced researcher to explore electronic (e.g. graphene-based) biosensors for the detection of clinically relevant analytes in real samples such as human blood or serum. The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, materials science, engineering or a related field with an excellent track record in nanomaterials or biosensors research.

Required skills

  • Experience in some of the following areas: nanoelectronics devices, surface chemistry, surface characterization techniques, microfluidics, immunoassays, chemical sensing, biosensing, polymer chemistry, electrochemistry
  • Independent thinking
  • Experience of working in interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills in English

Additional preferred skills

  • Experience with modeling and simulations of nanoelectronic or biosensing devices is a plus

Candidates are requested to submit

  • 1-page cover letter explaining the interest in joining our team
  • Full Curriculum Vitae containing past research experience and education, a publication list, and references
  • A brief (1-2 pages) research statement outlining scientific interests, future goals, and proposed contribution to the activities of our team (short description of ideas or experimental techniques for electronic detection of various analytes in blood or serum samples)

What we offer

The post is offered for a limited term until 30 September 2019. BioMed X is a multidisciplinary and international research institution with a very collegial and flexible working environment. As part of the remuneration package we offer a competitive salary, access to training and lecture courses in house as well as in neighboring research institutions on the Life Science Campus in Heidelberg. Team recognition events, such as our annual two-day retreat, joint luncheons and after work events, a Summer and a Christmas party are just some of the other perks our fellows enjoy.

The position is sponsored by Roche Diagnostics.

The position is immediately available. Please submit your application to the attention of Dr. Alexey Tarasov before 30 May 2018 via the online application system on this website. Applicants will be interviewed upon incoming documents, hence please get in touch as soon as you decide to apply.
